DRAWING FLOWERS
(I didn't know I could)

Where to start..........

I will start by telling you that I normally make flowers from Polymer Clay petal by petal and sell as Jewellery & more through my self employed business

ART runs in my family but to be honest I really didn't think I had it in me, I thought I had no idea how I would put a picture I see, onto paper to make it look like what I want it too....

I believe this had partly come from a bad experience I had in art lessons at school, I had no confidence back then so would press hard with the pencil (instead of sketching) and constantly rubbing out my attempts, so in the end I just gave up trying, I had no belief in what I could achieve

Over the years I have had the urge to give it a go again, but just kept pushing the thought away as I was worried I wouldn't succeed in my ideas

WELL.............. The moto of this Blog is..... if you have the passion, why not give it a try?

I'm now in my late 30's and finally gave in to the temptation around a month ago, after seeing a pretty photo on google of some Purple Flowers, Oh how I wanted to give it a try....... so I brought out my sketch pencil and lightly started sketching little by little while having the photo showing up on my laptop to use as a reference

Below are the steps on how I did it

I started by sketching just a few flowers with the idea of a flower vine, with a very fine outline behind of the leaves I planned to draw (I'll admit at this stage I had to stay determined and not undermine my work, just keeping in mind what it could look like once completed)

More Flowers added using the photo on the laptop screen as reference, I did change a few things to make it my own idea of the flower vine (apologies about the lighting was taken at night)

The Flower Vine is slowly coming together now, by this time my confidence in my abilities in drawing had grown (apologies about lighting, photo taken at night)

Now for the colour :-) Shading was something I was worried about before I started, I wanted the flowers to pop out of the drawing and look realistic

Now the flowers have been coloured it was time to work on the leaves

Its coming along, by now I am feeling pretty excited about my attempt at drawing and wanted to get it completed

Here is my completed drawing of a Purple Flower Vine :-)

Since then I have had the urge to draw Flowers & Scenery that I now sell along with my Polymer Clay, Fabric & Rhinestone Flower Designs

I hope this has given potential artists out there a little bit more confidence and a push in the right direction.  If you have the passion to do it then you will (like anything)

Please feel free to leave a comment for me and let me know what you think to this blog :-)
